隸屬於 Nepenthes 旗下，由三上要 (Kaname Nagaoka) 於 2003 年創立。品牌名稱源自其北海道札幌門市的座標——南 2 條西 8 丁目。South2 West8 的核心靈魂源於日本傳統毛鉤飛釣技法「Tenkara (天唐釣)」，是一個真正將「戶外獵捕」與「城市穿著」完美融合的指標性品牌。
三上要與 Needles 創辦人清水慶三、Engineered Garments 創辦人鈴木大器皆為熱衷於 Tenkara 技法的釣魚玩家。這份對大自然的熱愛直接反映在產品之中，其標誌性的標靶圖像與多口袋結構，更是為了適應溪流垂釣的機能需求而生。
